Flax Picking 101

Flax running is one of the oldest moneymaking methods in RuneScape. This method
requires no skills, and can only be used by RuneScape members. It's recommended
that you have While often overlooked as "noobish", this is one of the only sources
of guaranteed profit in RuneScape.
|
Overall, flax running it one of the best moneymaking methods for new players, pures,
or anyone who needs a few hundred thousand gp fast - and learning the tips and tricks
in this guide can help give you a leg up over your competition.
Getting To The Flax Fields
- Seer's Village - This is the most popular place to pick flax, with many plants located
in a field several seconds south of the Seer's Village bank. The fastest way here is via a Camelot
teleport.
- Lletya - A small town accessed after beginning Mourning's Ends Part I.
Flax is only 10 spaces from the bank, allowing faster banking then Seer's Village. The
fastest way here is with an elf teleport crystal.
Optimizing Your Flax Gathering
|
The largest factor that affects your profits while flax running is speed - the faster you can pick
and bank an inventory, the more money you will make. The greatest obstacle to efficient flax running is
running out of stamina, so make sure to outfit yourself correctly. Wearing heavy armor and lugging useless
weapons is a mistake that many flax runners make.
|
 |
On average, about 20% of your Run Energy is used up on each trip to or from the Catherby flax field.
To prevent running out of stamina, it is beneficial to wear weight-reducing items like Boots of Lightness or a
Spotted Cape, if you have them.
Higher agility levels will also give you a subtle advantage by allowing your run energy to regenerate faster
as you pick. Some players also find it useful to bring one or more energy potions (although these lessen your flax
carrying capacity) and an Explorer's Ring (able to regenerate run energy). If you finally do run out of
stamina, sit down and rest to quickly regain your strength while losing as little time as possible.
Profit And Tips
Flax is generally worth from 80gp-100gp apiece on the Grand Exchange, and can be sold fairly quickly in bulk. One inventory
of flax takes less then a minute (depending on your speed), and yields from 2,000-2,800 GP. Thus, continuous flax running
can earn you a guaranteed profit of 120,000 GP to 150,000 GP per hour.
- To maximize profit, DON'T sell your flax right away - spin it into bowstrings for almost twice the profit yield.
- Always pick flax in fullscreen to allow easier and more efficient clicking.
- Run flax while watching a movie or listening to music to keep from getting bored.
- Always try to sell your flax for the highest possible in the Exchange, even if you have to wait longer before it sells.
